In celebration of two years of the Congress government in Karnataka, Samarpana Sankalpa conference was held in Hospet. Land ownership documents were handed over to 1,11,111 landless families, marking a significant step in legalising unauthorised settlements by converting them into recognised revenue villages. This initiative directly benefits numerous poor families, including Dalits and tribals, securing their fundamental right to land ownership.

Key dignitaries present included AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, cabinet ministers, Vijayanagara MLA H.R. Gaviyappa, MLAs, MLCs, and other senior party officials.

Despite heavy rains causing flooding and traffic disruptions in Hosapete, the public gathering proceeded under large canopies. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda welcomed attendees and described the rain as a blessing for a government that has fulfilled its promises. He highlighted the efforts of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in initiating and supporting the legal recognition of settlements, leading to the distribution of secure, digital title deeds.

This milestone marks the fulfilment of key election guarantees and promises a better future for Karnataka’s marginalised communities by ensuring rightful land ownership.
