A 50-year-old man was arrested in Channapatna, Ramanagara district, for allegedly performing an obscene act with a street dog. Two other men managed to flee the scene. The incident took place near a petrol station on Saturday afternoon, where passersby witnessed the act and immediately reported it.
The arrested man, identified as Basava, a daily-wage worker from Ballari, resides in Channapatna. The police have filed a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Basava, who is married with children, hails from Hosapete in Ballari.
According to the police, Basava was caught by members of the public engaging in the act near the Channapatna-Satanur road around 2:30 PM. “We were walking by the bunk when we noticed a crowd. As we got closer, we saw Basava, stripped and behaving inappropriately with the dog,” the complainants said. Authorities are still searching for the two men who escaped when bystanders gathered.
