1 Lakh title deeds to be distributed in Hospet on May 20, to celebrate Congress’s 2 years in power: Byre Gowda inspects the preparation

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced on Sunday that the Congress-led Karnataka government will distribute one lakh title deeds on May 20 in Hospet, to mark the completion of two years in power. “Preparations are underway to distribute land title deeds to beneficiaries in newly declared revenue villages. The event will be held in Vijayanagar district,” Shivakumar confirmed while addressing the media. The initiative is led by the Revenue Department under Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Vijayanagara MLA HR Gaviappa.

The programme venue in Hospet was inspected by officials, with logistical arrangements progressing. A review meeting with Vijayanagar district officials was held late Sunday evening to finalise preparations.

Earlier, the event was postponed due to escalating border tensions with Pakistan. However, with a ceasefire now in place, plans are back on track. “If no further issues arise, we will proceed with the programme as scheduled,” said Shivakumar.

Shivakumar also revealed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to virtually inaugurate 100 proposed party offices across Karnataka. This initiative is part of the party’s centenary tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s historic 1924 AICC session in Belagavi. “Some land has already been acquired; in other areas, we are still in the process,” he said.

In Ramanagara, Shivakumar said he is personally donating land for a new Congress office due to earlier legal hurdles. Contributions from supporters are being collected for construction.

“Rahul Gandhi will attend the Bengaluru office inauguration physically and launch others virtually,” he added.
