The body of 26-year-old Ananya Rao, a doctor at a private hospital in Hyderabad, was recovered on Thursday after she drowned while swimming in the Tungabhadra river near Sanapura village in the taluk.
The search operation, which lasted for a day, involved the fire brigade, police, JSW security team, and local youths who constructed rafts. They were able to find the body among the eroded rocks after reducing the river’s water flow.
Ananya, a resident of Nampally, Hyderabad, had visited the area with friends for a holiday and was staying at a guest house in Sanapur village. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning when she and her friends decided to swim in the river behind the guest house. Sources confirmed that she was the daughter of a political leader from Telangana.
With the help of locals, the body was later transported back to Hyderabad.
