Tapal Ganesh, a miner-activist asked the President to suspend the activities of Gali Janardhan Reddy’s political party

Tapal Ganesh an activist and miner from Ballari has written a letter to the President of India asking to suspend the political activities of Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha (KRPP) launched by former Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy before Assembly elections in Karnataka.

According to him, Gali Janardhan Reddy and his wife G Aruna Lakshmi established Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha (KRPP) by using money that had been illegally earned. The Ballari resident has been advocating the prohibition of illegal mining primarily by the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), owned by Gali Janardhan Reddy. A letter he sent to President Droupadi Murmu on April 11 argued that Mr. Reddy and his wife G Lakshmi Arun had established the KRPP with illegally earned funds. Mr. Ganesh requested that the President suspend his party’s political activities until the cases against Mr. Reddy and his wife are resolved.

In his letter, Mr. Ganesh alluded to the charge sheets that the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had submitted. Four officials from Andhra Pradesh and six from Karnataka were listed on his list of bureaucrats who are believed to have participated in the mining fraud committed by OMC and detailed in the CBI’s charge sheet.

He also mentioned two MPs from Karnataka, G. Somashekhar Reddy and Suresh Babu, as well as Pattabhirama Rao, a judge on the CBI court, who was reportedly involved in a case involving a bargain to get bail.

The authorities have failed to prevent the widespread, large-scale unlawful mining by OMC and the organization owned by Gali Janardhana Reddy despite several letters being sent to them alleging the abuse of constitutional rights by Gali Janardhana Reddy. There is a scam involving a huge loss to the state exchequer. Mr. Ganesh wrote, “According to the information provided by the authorities, the entire sum gained through illegal mining could be considered a part of the proceeds of crime.”.

The Election Commission of India, the Registrar of the Supreme Court of India,  the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Secretary of the Karnataka State Election Commission all received copies of the letter.

“Officials from the Election Commission of India replied to my mail and requested details on my worries. In my response, I made it plain that I was against corruption. Using the thousands of crores of rupees made through illegal mining, Mr. Reddy and his wife established a political party in an effort to win the election. It puts democracy in danger. To preserve India’s democracy, I asked the Election Commission to halt the party’s political operations,” said Mr. Ganesh.
