For the last three days, Hampi has been experiencing unusually massive traffic jams.
On Saturday, the situation got so bad that Anand Singh, the forest and district minister in charge, had to step in to clear a traffic jam. Mr Anand Singh, who had come to Hampi, had to wait on the roads until 7 pm clearing vehicles, B Rachaiah, a resident of neighboring Kamalapura said. Tourist vehicles clogged all the narrow roads leading to Hampi.
Mobile testing units have been set up to check the tourists. Authorities have reported that health workers will collect and test the Rapid Antigen Test Swab.
Forest Minister Anand Singh said the long weekend was the reason for the crowds’ surge. The long weekend took many people to Hampi and put the traffic out of balance. I had to step in and help clear the traffic,” he confirmed.
More than 2,500 people had arrived at Hampi. The number of visitors are usually higher on weekends.
