G Lakshmiaruna, the wife of mining magnate Gali Janardhana Reddy, has declared assets worth Rs 250 crore as she files her nomination for the upcoming state elections in Ballari City. She will be running on a Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha ticket. According to her declaration submitted to the Election Commission on Monday, her assets include 84kg of diamonds and gold and 437kg of silver with zero liabilities.
Gali Janardhana Reddy, who launched the Pragati Paksha party after quitting BJP in December 2022, is all set to contest the upcoming state elections from the Gangavati constituency in Koppal district, North Karnataka.
Meanwhile, his wife G Lakshmiaruna, who is also contesting the polls from Ballari City, has declared assets worth Rs 250 crore, which includes a significant amount of diamonds and gold. Interestingly, despite owning more diamonds and gold overall, Janardhana Reddy has more investments in these precious metals than his wife, with 46kg compared to her 38kg. These details were disclosed in their respective affidavits submitted to the Election Commission.
According to the affidavits filed before the Election Commission, Lakshmiaruna has invested in many companies across various sectors, including hospitality, travel, mining, aviation, and chemicals, with a total investment value of Rs 79 crore. On the other hand, her husband’s investments are estimated to be around Rs 21 crore. These details shed light on the couple’s financial background and their involvement in different industries.
Aruna owns 93 agricultural properties
In the run-up to the state elections, G Lakshmiaruna, the wife of former BJP leader Gali Janardhana Reddy, has declared that she owns a whopping 93 agricultural properties in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
It is interesting to note that the couple, who floated an aviation company, does not own any aircraft or other vehicles. However, during the mining boom in Karnataka, the Reddys used to frequently travel between Ballari and Bengaluru in helicopters and private jets.
Lakshmiaruna purchased most of the land between 2008 and 2010, she acquired a few plots in Ballari city in 2021 and 2022. Her sources of income include remuneration, interest, rentals, and pension from the LIC.
