During a fiery election campaign address in Ballari, Rahul Gandhi took a sharp aim at the BJP, labeling them as the ‘Bharathiya Chombu Party’ in a critique of the Modi government’s policies. In the local dialect, “chombu” refers to a water container vessel, symbolizing an empty vessel implying a lack of substance or fulfillment.
Gandhi’s symbolic gesture aimed to highlight what he perceives as the BJP’s failure to address the needs of drought-hit farmers by withholding rightful shares of state and central funds.
Displaying a “chombu” during the public event, Gandhi underscored the Congress’s criticism of the central government’s alleged negligence towards crucial issues affecting the agricultural community.
Gandhi also said that promises made by the state government are important for the country’s growth. He wants better help for farmers from the government.
