Police bust fake currency racket at Durugamma fair; six arrested

Police have arrested six persons, including a boy, for allegedly circulating counterfeit currency at the Durugamma fair in Arasikere Dand village of the taluk.

The arrested have been identified as K. Mohammed (18) of Arasikere village, Mohammad Akhil (18) of Uchchandidurga, Narendra Prasad N.P. (19) of Arasikere, B. Babu (36) of Kudligi, T. Kumaraswamy (43) of Molakalmuru, and a boy.

Police seized five mobile phones, 80 fake ₹500 notes, a goods vehicle and two motorcycles from the accused. The arrests followed a complaint that two persons were using counterfeit ₹500 notes at the Durugammadevi fair held in Arasikere village. Acting swiftly, police teams were formed, and the accused were apprehended within 24 hours.

The operation was led by DySP Santosh Chauhan, CPI Mahantesh Sajjan, PSI Vijaykrishna, and other officers, including Vikas Lamani, Kiran Kumar and several staff members. SP Jahnavi S and Additional SP G. Manjunath appreciated the team for their prompt action.
