A joint operation by the Food Department and police on Saturday led to the discovery of 120 bags of ration rice being illegally stored at a fair-price shop. The rice, meant for public distribution, was seized during the raid.
A case has been filed by the Brucepet police against Suresh (45) under the Essential Commodities Act.
The authorities had targeted the D. Tukaram store in Rajyotsava Nagar on Rupanagudi Road after receiving tips about the unlawful storage of rice. The FIR reports the value of the confiscated rice as Rs 1,38,000.
