MLA Gaviyappa Inaugurates STP, Distributes Hakku Patra to the Poor

MLA H.R. Gaviyappa recently inaugurated a 27 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Hosapete, a long-pending project aimed at improving wastewater management and reducing pollution. This marks a significant step toward cleaner surroundings and better sanitation.

In a separate event, he distributed Hakku Patra (land claim letters) to 33 poor families in Dhulapete, granting them long-awaited land ownership rights after 12 years. He assured that the remaining eligible families would also receive their titles soon, reinforcing the government’s commitment to welfare schemes like free rice distribution and housing support.

The STP in Hosapete was initially planned in 2010, but multiple delays due to vendor changes and administrative hurdles stalled the project for several years. The untreated sewage was causing contamination of local water bodies, affecting nearby agricultural land and public health. With the completion of this plant, the treated water can now be safely reused, significantly reducing environmental hazards. The facility, which currently processes 10 MLD of wastewater, is expected to operate at full capacity soon, further enhancing sanitation standards in the region.

Meanwhile, the Hakku Patra distribution in Dhulapete has brought much-needed relief to families who had been living on government-allotted land without legal ownership for over a decade. MLA Gaviyappa highlighted the Karnataka government’s commitment to the welfare of the poor, stating that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s administration is dedicated to uplifting underprivileged communities through various social welfare programs.
