In a significant stride towards ensuring public safety, MJ Nagar in Hospet’s 28th Ward has become the first area in Vijayanagara District to install an advanced Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system. The project, spearheaded by Ward Councilor Mr. H.K. Manjunath, marks a milestone in enhancing security infrastructure in the region.
The initiative comes as a response to recurring safety concerns, including incidents of daylight chain-snatching, eve-teasing, and robbery near the entry and exit points of the ward. With a vision to make MJ Nagar a safer place, a detailed survey was conducted, and the proposal for CCTV surveillance received approval from the City Municipal Council (CMC) of Hosapete.
The setup includes 40 high-resolution cameras strategically installed across the ward, all connected to a dedicated control room located at the Vijayanagara District Superintendent of Police (SP) Office. The ward is linked to the control room via a high-speed Wi-Fi tower, ensuring seamless and real-time monitoring.
Funded by the CMC Hosapete, the project was executed under the close supervision of Mr. H.K. Manjunath, whose commitment to the safety and well-being of his constituents has been widely lauded. Residents of MJ Nagar have expressed their gratitude for the councilor’s proactive efforts in addressing safety issues and delivering on his promise to fortify the ward’s security infrastructure.
“This is a proud moment for all of us. MJ Nagar is now a safe ward, thanks to this extensive surveillance network. It’s a step forward in creating a secure environment, especially for women, children, and senior citizens,” said Mr. Manjunath.
The advanced CCTV system, now managed by the SP Office, is expected to provide round-the-clock monitoring, instilling a heightened sense of security among residents. The initiative has garnered praise from not only the local community but also the district administration and police department, who recognize the project as a model for other areas to emulate.
With MJ Nagar leading the way, this landmark project sets a precedent for adopting technology-driven solutions to address public safety challenges in the district.
