Darshan questioned by IT officials in Ballari jail over cash found at Bengaluru home

Darshan was interrogated by Income Tax (IT) officials for several hours on Thursday at Ballari Central Prison. The questioning is likely to continue until evening, with officials possibly extending the session into Friday.

The investigation centers around a large sum of cash discovered at Darshan’s Bengaluru residence, suspected to be linked to attempts to destroy evidence in the Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan’s auditor, M.S. Rao, also arrived at the Ballari jail on Thursday to assist in the probe.

The I-T department secured court permission to question the actor on September 26 and 27 as part of their efforts to trace the origins of the substantial funds uncovered at his home following his arrest in connection with the murder case.

A team of five I-T officials interrogated Darshan inside the jail superintendent’s office, and the entire process was recorded on video. During the questioning, the actor’s auditor presented relevant documents, and the officials also inquired about Darshan’s close associates.

The interrogation continued until the evening and is expected to resume on Friday.

In a related development, I-T officials from Bengaluru, including senior auditor M.R. Rao and assistant Arun, arrived in Ballari to facilitate the inquiry. The investigation is being conducted in the presence of the jail superintendent.
