An outbreak of bird flu has been confirmed at a private poultry farm near Kappagallu village in Ballari taluk, resulting in the death of 8,000 chickens.
Hanumanthappa Naik Barikar, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, confirmed the findings. The mass deaths, which occurred last Saturday, initially raised suspicions of a bird flu outbreak. Samples were sent to a laboratory in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, for analysis.
Officials have now confirmed that the chickens died due to avian flu, based on the test results.
