A stray dog attacked around 20 people in Ballari, including women and children. Seven were admitted to the district hospital affiliated with the Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS).
The Cowl Bazar Police Department conducted an inspection at the location on February 7 and notified the City Municipal Corporation of the incident. A campaign against stray dogs was being undertaken by the local government, and Rudresh, the corporation commissioner, visited the victims in the hospital.
The incident happened at Ballari City Municipal Corporation Ward No. 30 in Wattappageri and Cowl Bazar. According to locals, a pack of stray dogs attacked people late on February 6, which sparked fear among the community.
