Acting on credible information about a prostitution racket, Ballari police, under the leadership of SP Shobha Rani, conducted a raid on a spa operating within a private hotel on Saturday. The operation led to the rescue of three women hailing from Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), and Madhya Pradesh.
Two men were arrested during the raid—one from Ballari and the other from Gangavathi in Koppal district—for their alleged involvement in illegal activities. The key accused, B Mohammed Matil from Ballari, is currently absconding.
The raid was a coordinated effort involving the Deputy Superintendent of Police, the Inspectors from the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Station, and the Gandhinagar Police Station. A case has been registered at the Gandhinagar police station, and officials are intensifying efforts to trace the main accused and dismantle the larger network. Authorities have appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities in spas or similar establishments.
