In a groundbreaking initiative, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Hampi Circle, has introduced restroom and cafeteria services for tourists exploring the historic site of Hampi. As part of this endeavor, two cafeterias have already been inaugurated near the Vijaya Vittala temple premises, with another one planned near the Ugra Narasimha Temple area. Presently, the ASI team operates a small store offering tea, coffee, tender coconut, and light snacks, with additional plans to provide temporary lodging facilities for tourists.
Formalities are underway to finalize the implementation of these services, but with the holiday season and New Year celebrations drawing in numerous tourists, the administration is keen on enhancing the overall travel experience by offering snacks and beverages. A senior ASI official revealed that the cafeterias aim to cater to tourists, and more such outlets are in the pipeline. The menu includes tea, coffee, samosas, puffs, cool drinks, and water bottles, with lodging tariffs yet to be finalized. The ASI ensures that the rooms will feature hygienic toilets and clean beds, constructed in the iconic Hampi architectural style.
Nagaraj Bhat, a visitor, expressed his approval of this initiative, emphasizing its positive impact on both tourists, especially foreigners, and the local population. He welcomed the ASI’s effort to provide quality services, expressing hope that tourists would receive excellent service during their visit to Hampi.
