Yallappa Padasali, an auto-rickshaw driver in Koppal, has seen both of his children secure MBBS seats despite the family’s severe financial hardships. His daughter, Jyothi Padasali, is currently pursuing her medical degree at a college in Ujire after securing admission in 2024, while his son, Manjunath, recently earned the 561st rank in the NEET 2026 examination to gain admission to Mysore Medical College. The family, residing in the Bhagyanagar area, faces mounting pressure from loan repayments and educational fees, which Yallappa supports through his daily earnings from driving an auto-rickshaw from morning until night.
Manjunath completed his high school education at Government Adarsha School before enrolling at Navachetana PU College in his village, where he received a fee concession that helped alleviate some of the family’s financial burden. He achieved an impressive 95 per cent in his PUC examinations, a performance that paved the way for his exceptional result in the NEET exam. Yallappa, who had already taken substantial loans to fund his daughter’s education, now faces another major financial responsibility with his son’s admission. He stated that he did not want to burden his children with their financial struggles during their moment of joy and proceeded to admit Manjunath to Mysore Medical College.
Expressing his pride in both children’s determination, Yallappa emphasized his commitment to their education regardless of the difficulties. “We are somehow managing the financial burden of my daughter’s medical education. The interest on the loans itself is a huge burden. Meanwhile, my son Manjunath has also secured an MBBS seat. I did not want to share our financial struggles with the children during their moment of happiness. I went ahead and admitted him to Mysore Medical College. I will educate my children no matter how difficult things become,” he said. He added, “Both my children securing medical seats is a very happy moment for us. But we are facing severe financial difficulties. I will take more loans to educate my children. It would be a great blessing if someone comes forward to help us.”
