Vijayanagara district has implemented extensive security measures for the installation of over 2,230 public Ganesha idols, Superintendent of Police S Jahnavi announced. The Hospet subdivision will host 440 idols, while Kudligi and Harapanahalli will have 807 and 983 idols, respectively.
To ensure law and order, the district police have deployed a significant force, including one SP, three DSPs, 14 inspectors, 27 PSIs, 76 ASIs, and 591 head constables and constables. They will be supported by 450 home guards, three KSRP platoons, eight DAR platoons, around 250 volunteers and retired officials.
Security surveillance has been strengthened with 502 additional CCTV cameras, adding to nearly 4,200 cameras already installed across the district, and private and other cameras along procession routes will also be utilised.
Social media platforms are being closely monitored, with action promised against content that could disturb communal harmony. Fire tenders, ambulances, swimmers and lighting facilities have been arranged at immersion points.
A parade of 225 rowdy‑sheeters was conducted and warnings issued. The district administration has banned DJ sound systems and high‑decibel equipment from Sept 14 to Sept 28.
According to the immersion schedule, 64 public idols were immersed on day one, 1,432 on day three, 674 on day five, 22 on day seven, 29 on day nine, four on day eleven, five on day thirteen and one on day fifteen.
