The three-day Hampi Utsav-2026 will take place from February 13 to 15 at Hampi, the historic capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, district minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan announced on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Hosapete, the minister shared details about the preparations and key attractions for this year’s cultural festival. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event on February 13 and will stay in Hampi on the opening day before departing the next day for a programme in Haveri.
The festival will be organised across six major stages set up at different locations in Hampi. The main venue, MP Prakash Vedike, has a seating capacity of 50,000. Other stages include Krishnadevaraya Vedike and Virupaksha stage, along with three additional platforms for various cultural programmes.
Several well-known Sandalwood actors, including Shivarajkumar, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, Ganesh, Rakshit Shetty, Rachita Ram, Dolly Dhananjay, and Bigg Boss winner Gilli, are expected to take part in the celebrations. Special lighting arrangements have been made across Hampi town to create a festive atmosphere. A dedicated light and sound show depicting the history of Hakka and Bukka, the founders of the Vijayanagara Empire, will be a major attraction.
Comprehensive security measures have been arranged, with nearly 2,000 police personnel deployed. This includes the SP, eight additional SPs, 15 DSPs, and 61 inspectors to ensure smooth conduct of the event. The government has also arranged free food and refreshments near the Krishna Temple. An estimated budget of ₹14 to ₹15 crore has been allocated for the festival.
Officials expect a crowd of 8 to 10 lakh visitors, exceeding last year’s turnout. To manage the rush, an extra 15,000 seats have been arranged, the minister said.
