An incident was reported from G Square Layout after a model house owned by MLA Janardhana Reddy was affected by a fire. The incident occurred when a group of youngsters visited the abandoned house for a reel and photo shoot, which reportedly led to an accidental fire.
On Saturday morning, January 24, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team visited the site and conducted an inspection. Forensic officers examined different parts of the house and gathered information in coordination with the local police. District Superintendent of Police Dr. Saman D. Pennekar also visited the location.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Pennekar said that eight people have been detained in connection with the case. According to preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by boys who had come to the spot for creating social media content. Of the eight detained, six are minors and two are adults.
Police officials stated that the house had been in a neglected condition for several years and was lying unused. There were no household items such as a refrigerator, television, or sofa inside the building. The house was empty and had no security arrangements.
Initial findings indicate that the fire was not started intentionally. During questioning, it was found that one of the boys unknowingly lit an object using a matchbox that was lying inside the house, which led to the fire.
The Suko FSL team began its investigation at night and continued it the next day for a detailed examination. Officials also noted that there were no CCTV cameras installed at the property, making monitoring difficult.
Police recovered reels and photographs from the mobile phones of the detained youths, confirming that they had visited the house for shooting content. These digital records are being used as part of the investigation.
Authorities said that further inquiry is in progress and necessary action will be taken based on the findings, especially considering the involvement of minors.
