District Collector Kavita S. Mannikeri has instructed officials to ensure that crop harvesting experiments and birth and death registrations in the district are monitored efficiently and completed without delay.
She issued these directions while chairing the district-level coordination committee meeting held on Thursday at the District Collector’s Office hall.
The DC said that 3,446 crop harvesting trials were assigned during the monsoon season and 906 trials during the dry season. She noted that 86% of Form-2 submissions for the monsoon season have already been completed and instructed officials to register the remaining forms immediately.
Over the past four months, the district has recorded 7,870 births and 3,653 deaths, totalling 11,523 registrations. She emphasized that the registration process in both government and private hospitals must not face any delay. During inspections, it was found that timely birth registration was not being done at the Taluk Mother and Child Hospital, and she directed officials to take corrective action.
A total of 1,03,495 farmers have enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for 2025–26 during the monsoon season. An insurance amount of ₹5,20,21.89 lakh and a premium of ₹1,066.31 lakh have been paid. The DC urged officials to encourage more farmers to join the insurance scheme.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Nongjoy Mohammad Akram Ali said that birth and death certificates in rural areas will be issued directly at Gram Panchayats, and PDOs must monitor the process. He added that experiment details should be accurately entered to avoid errors in the crop insurance software.
