A shocking incident occurred in Malavi village of Hagaribommanahalli taluk, Vijayanagar district, where a son allegedly killed his father after he fell while intervening in a quarrel between his parents.
According to police, the accused, Shankrappa, attacked his father, Javali Shivalingappa (60), with a stick after he slipped to the ground during the altercation. The victim died on the spot due to severe injuries. Following a complaint lodged by his wife, Gangamma, at the HB Halli police station, Shankrappa was taken into custody for questioning.
District Superintendent of Police S. Jahnavi said, “On November 10, Gangamma of Malavi village reported that her husband had been mentally and physically torturing her for years. When their son tried to intervene in the fight, he pushed his father, who fell and was then struck with a stick. A case has been registered under Section 304 of the IPC.”
Kidnapped trader found dead
In a separate case, Manjunath Shejwadkar (58), a trader from Holalu village who was kidnapped on October 10 in Huvinahadagali taluk, was found dead on the banks of the Tungabhadra river near Haravi Basapura on October 16.
The accused, Mallikarjun Ujjammanavar (27) and Yogesh Angadi (25) of Holalu village, were arrested in Pune, Maharashtra. Based on their information, police and fire personnel conducted a search operation and recovered the decomposed body from the river.
