Hospet is bracing for an huge influx of visitors as all hotels in the city are reportedly fully booked on May 19 and 20, ahead of the Samarpana Sankalpa event scheduled at the Puneeth Rajkumar District Stadium.
Hospet’s hospitality sector, with over 1,600 hotel rooms, has reached full capacity for May 19 and 20. Bookings were filled rapidly after the announcement of the event, and many guests are now turning to nearby towns for alternative accommodations. The demand has also increased due to the arrival of police personnel from different districts who are being deployed for crowd control and security. Special lodging arrangements have been made for them separately.
The event, being held to mark two years of the current state government, is expected to draw over two lakh attendees, making it one of the largest political gatherings in the region in recent times.
A massive tent is being erected to cover the entire 19-acre stadium, which officials say can hold up to two lakh people. With roads on all four sides, the district administration has stated that even if the main ground is full, people will still be able to witness the event from the surrounding roads without any difficulty.
