Fake social media accounts have been created in the names of former minister B Sriramulu and Vijayanagara Deputy Commissioner MS Diwakar. Sriramulu’s fake profiles appeared on both Facebook and Instagram, posting fraudulent content and sharing stock market links in an attempt to solicit money from unsuspecting individuals.
Sriramulu addressed the issue on Twitter, stating, “Fake accounts have been created in my name on Facebook and Instagram, and links have been shared. I want to make it clear that I am not responsible for this.”
In a related incident, this is the third time that DC Diwakar’s Facebook account has been compromised. Messages like “Give me your number” were sent from the fake account to several individuals, including literary figure Mrityunjaya Rumale of Hosapete, as well as leaders of various organizations and businesspeople.
Rumale was surprised by the message but was informed by a well-wisher that it came from a fake account, leading him to block the number. Diwakar confirmed that his official Facebook account is secure and the fraudulent messages came from a fake profile created by someone in Uttar Pradesh. He has previously filed complaints regarding similar incidents and urged the public to stay vigilant.
