Two individuals have been accused of defrauding a person of ₹10 lakh by selling fake gold in Harakanalu. Ramesh and another suspect, Hanumantarayappa from Tumkur, claimed they had discovered 4.5 kg of old gold and offered to sell it at a reduced price.
When Hanumantarayappa visited Harpanahalli, they gave him fake gold, took the money, and fled. The gold was later confirmed to be bogus.
A complaint has been lodged at Harpanahalli police station, leading to a case being registered.
