Three doctors were killed, and another critically injured, in a tragic car accident on the Ananthapur-Bellary highway in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. The doctors were returning to Ballari from a holiday in Hong Kong when their vehicle crashed into a tree near Vidapanakallu. Police stated that the car lost control, likely due to high-speed driving, resulting in the immediate death of the three medics. The critically injured doctor was rushed to a nearby hospital by locals for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Dr. Yoghes, Dr. Govindaray, and Dr. Amresh, all from Ballari, Karnataka. Dr. Amaregouda Patil, another doctor, sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the hospital.
The Indian Medical Association expressed condolences over the loss of the three doctors. Dr. K. Raghavendra, President of the Indian Medical Association, urged drivers to exercise caution on highways to prevent such incidents.
The police have registered a case of rash driving and are continuing their investigation into the accident.
In a separate report, it was revealed that two of the victims, Dr. Govindaray and Dr. Yoghes, were associated with the Ballari Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS). Along with them, advocate Venkat Naidu was also killed in the crash. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the fatal accident.
