A special court for elected representatives in Ballari on Friday granted bail to 25 individuals arrested in connection with the January 1 clash that led to the death of Congress worker Rajashekhar.
However, the court denied bail to Gurucharan Singh, a private gunman of Sathish Reddy, an aide to Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy, who has been charged with murder. As per the forensic report, the fatal bullet was fired from Singh’s licensed rifle.
On Monday, 26 accused, including nine gunmen, were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison. Those arrested included Sathish Reddy’s private gunmen Gurucharan Singh, Mahendra Singh and Baljit Singh; Bharath Reddy’s government gunman Basavaraj; four government gunmen attached to BJP MLA G Janardhana Reddy; and one gunman of B Sriramulu
